Postally unused, undated black and white postcard of the gazebo at Richardson Park, estimated circa 1910 period. Though not there anymore, it might be possible it now sits on the property at the waterfront a few hundred feet away. This is not confirmed. If anyone knows the exact date or the exact history and whereabouts, please comment.

Rare View Of Camp Wawona circa 1908

A very rare colorized postcard view of Camp Wawona, from a boat or dock on West Shore Road.
The tents are on platforms. Adult campers slept in these tents with wood platforms that raised the tent at least 2 feet off the ground. This photo was most likely taken in the summer of 1908, published in 1909. The rock to the left could be used to identify the exact location of this photo when the lake is lowered in the fall.

1910-1911 Camp Jewell

This postcard was postmarked July 1912, and was printed in Germany. The photo was most likely taken in the summer of 1910 or 1911. This scene is the waterfront of Camp Jewell, later Camp Squanto. These platform tents eventually were replaced with cabins that today, at the waterfront, slightly resemble the platforms.

East Shore 1948-1949 Era

Postmarked 1945. This appears to be the shoreline on the east side of the lake, near Brown Road and the Talbot Hill Road split. This is a shallow part of the lake's shoreline, and, note the unusually low lake level. The trees still have leaves. Looks like the Bennett property way in the distance, looking north. To this day, on that side of the lake, midpoint between the north and south ends, there are trees that still grow on an angle.

This postcard photo was taken in the summer of 1911, and postmarked in 1912. This photo was taken at Camp Wawona during a baseball game. This is the north side of the lake. In the beginning of Camp Wawona, tents on platforms were common in this area and also along the shoreline. In the distance, Christian Hill Road can be seen. This view is also from about where the Snack Shack is today.
